| Sri G. Rama Chandhra Reddy who was appointed as DSP in December 1965 and joined service on 1.1.1966 rose to become Inspector General of Police. He retired from service in 1998. He worked for about 7 years in the Central Bureau of Investigation and in the Anti Corruption Agencies. The rest of the service was spent in regular police. His service was marked by very high sense of devotion to duty and he brooked no fear or favour. He led the forces from the front in all field operations that include Anti Naxalite Operations. He exhibited exemplary courage in facing the Naval Mutiny in 1978 (Eastern Naval Command, Vishakpatnam) and rescued the then MLA Palla Simachalam who was abducted by the mutinous Naval Officials. He strove for lion’s share of action without an eye for reward or recognition. Cherished independent thought and functioning.
He contributed several Articles to National News Papers and Police Magazines even while in service and after retirement he authored several Books. According to General K.V. Krishna Rao, Former Chief of Army Staff and Governor Jammu & Kashmir “these books covered very sensitive and vital subjects affecting the functioning of the Nation. I have not doubt that people who read them will benefit a lot, and them selves contribute towards improving it.” |
