| Rajeev K. Upadhyay, Deputy Director (Plant Pathology) at the Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine & Storage (Government of India), Faridabad, India. He has worked as Visiting Scientist (1988-90) in Montana State University, USA and as Sabbatical Plant Pathologist (1991-92) in International Atomic Energy Agency, Seibersdorf Laboratory, Austria. He received the M. Sc. (1974) degree from Agra University and Ph.D. (1980) degree from Banaras Hindu University in Botany with Mycology and Plant Pathology. He is the author or coauthor of nearly 75 research papers. Recently he has edited books “Toxins in Plant Disease Development and Evolving Biotechnology” (Oxford & IBH, New Delhi and Science Publishers Inc., USA) and 7 volume series of “IPM System in Agriculture” (Aditya Books Pvt. Ltd New Delhi). He is internationally known for his work on microbial ecology and different components of IPM including biotechnological aspects of biocontrol and host plant resistance. His current major interests include biological control of weeds, plant pathogens and insect pests; decision making tools in IPM; and policy issues related to pest management in sustainable agriculture. Dr. Upadhyay is an outstanding mycologist, plant pathologist and biotechnologist. |
