Dr. Lakshman Chandra De is a Senior Scientist in the field of horticulture presently working at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umaim, Meghalaya. He obtained his M.Sc.and PhD degree in Horticulture from Indian Agricultral Research Institute, Pusa, and New Delhi. He has 12 years research and extension experience in various horticultural crops of North Eastern Hill Region preferably on fruits like citrus, banana pineapple, papaya, peach, guava and indigenous fruits; vegetables like bhindi, tamato, brinjal, chilli and flowers like tuberose, rose, chrysanthemum, gladiolus, gerbera, marigold etc. and 4 years administrative experience as officiating joint Director at ICAR Research Complex, Arunachal Pradesh Centre, Basar. He has handled nationally funded projects like NATP on TPNS for Fruit and Vegetable Production System and Technology Mission on ‘Integrated Development of Horticulture in North East India’. He has published 45 research papers in reputed journals and written 15 book chapters, 33 research abstracts and 25 popular articles. He has significant contribution in the preparation of 8 numbers of bulletins and out of which ‘Citrus Rejuvenation Packages in North East India’, ‘Indigenous Life Supporting Plants of Arunachal Pradesh’ and Improved Package of Practices of Strawberry Cultivation’ have been acclaimed in a popular way. He is the co-author of three most popular books. He is a member of several scientific societies and referee of reputed journals. |
