The book, The Supreme Yoga: Yoga Vasistha is a highly valuable book as it acts as a guidebook for spiritual awakening according to the teachings of the Vedanta.

This book will help people seeking spiritual enlightenment in understanding the basic truths and principles of human life.

Yoga Vasistha originally is an intensely fascinating dialogue between Lord Rama and his spiritual guru Vasistha Muni, written by Valmiki as a part of the Ramayana. A curious Rama asks Vasistha a series of questions and the sage responds to those questions. These questions are about human existence and the meaning of human life and the truth behind every aspect of life. Swami Venkatesananda has explained those very basic topics of human existence and life in his book, The Supreme Yoga: Yoga Vasistha.

The book talks about how the human mind is burdened by its own intellectual prowess. We tend to analyze every aspect of life in our search for the eternal truth behind everything. When a crow comes flying and sits atop a coconut tree and a coconut falls, the human mind immediately jumps to the possible explanations behind this incident. Even in regular matters of our lives have been over-analyzed by us, in our thirst for knowledge.

The author tries to explain to the reader that he is also a part of the indivisible consciousness and talks about how he can open up his mind to this supreme knowledge and consciousness.

This book has been published by Motilal Banarsidass Publishers Pvt. Ltd in 2010. You can get the reprinted 4th edition in paperback.
